Hi! I’m Katie - mom to two girls, Amity (age 14) and Verity (age 12) and step-mom to two boys, Knox (age 12) and Ford (age 10). When I’m not chasing my own babies...I love photographing yours!

I have been photographing professionally for 16 years now! People describe me as patient and my artwork as pure, simple, and natural. I aim for authentic posing and natural editing. My hope is to capture the personality and essence of your family and deliver beautiful art for your family to enjoy for a lifetime.

Timing

Newborn sessions take place in my Salem studio, M-F, almost always between 7-14 days of life. At this time, mom is starting to feel better and baby is still young enough to be sleepy and “curled up.” I pencil in the due dates of my clients who are expecting and, once the baby is born, we finalize our plans and set a time. My newborn sessions are often a bit longer than a typical portrait session, lasting about 2 hours. We follow the baby’s lead with lots of time for soothing, nursing, etc., keeping things relaxed.

Sleepy baby

A successful newborn session requires a content and sleepy baby. There are numerous ways we accomplish this! The studio will be very warm, and we will work to keep the baby’s tummy full. I will also have un-opened soothie pacifiers for your baby. It’s very important to allow me to use a pacifier for the session, as it is extremely helpful in posing your baby—even if your baby doesn’t normally or won’t be using a pacifier outside of the session.

wardrobe

Not sure what to wear for your maternity session? I have lots of robes and dresses at the studio for your use. Schedule a time to come by the studio before your session to pick out what you'd like to wear or plan to arrive a little early to your maternity session. We'll go through the clothes and find something that looks beautiful on you!

Fresh48

Fresh48 sessions aim to capture the emotions you feel during this impactful moment in your life. The session is are documentary in nature. No props or poses, just you and your brand new baby.

When I arrive, I open up all the blinds and tidy up a few items that may be out of place. Throughout the session I will be guiding you with simple prompts and will do my best to capture all images under an hour, ensuring that the session is as easy and stress free as possible.

7-10 business days after your session, your photos will be ready to view and order from in an online gallery. It's at this time you will select your favorite images to recieve as digital files. They will be fully edited and high resolution. You have full printing rights.

My pricing structure is broken up into two parts.

A session fee is collected at the time of booking and reserves your time and date, access to studio wardrobe, and your online ordering appointment. The session fee is non-refundable.

We’ll celebrate your baby’s first trip around the sun with personality-filled portraits. Think toothy grins, wobbly first steps, and all the sweet curiosity of toddlerhood.

Best time to schedule
Between 12–15 months, when your little one is on the move and full of expression.

Once your baby is sitting up on their own, it’s the perfect time to capture their blossoming personality. We’ll photograph them in the studio, focusing on those chubby rolls, belly laughs, and drooly, joyful smiles you never want to forget.

Around 6–8 months, when babies are sitting confidently but not yet crawling away.

your newborn session is all about slowing down and honoring this fleeting season. We’ll follow your baby’s lead and create simple, natural portraits filled with love and connection.

Best time to schedule
Within the first 7–14 days after birth, when babies are still extra sleepy and snuggly.

Start your baby’s story from the very beginning, with a peaceful, joy-filled maternity session. This session is optional, but it's a beautiful way to document the anticipation and love before your baby arrives.

Best time to schedule
Between 32–34 weeks, when your bump is showing beautifully but you’re still comfortable.

How the album credit works

A 10x10 hardbound linen album is available for purchase after your baby’s final session, and it's priced at $800 a la carte. But with the Baby Plan, you’ll earn album credit at each ordering appointment - making your album significantly more affordable by the end of the year.

Here’s how the credit is awarded per session:

Purchase 25 digital files → receive $100 album credit
Purchase 50 digital files → receive $150 album credit
Purchase all digital files → receive $200 album credit

Your total album credit accumulates over the year and can be applied to your final album purchase once your baby turns one. I’ll design it for you using images from each session. The album is a gorgeous, tangible way to preserve your baby’s first year.

Welcoming a new baby is one of life’s biggest, sweetest milestones.

Booking

Your session date will be canceled or give it to another client if the session fee is not received within one week after your portrait agreement is e-mailed to you. In the event that you need to reschedule the date, current pricing and my availability to provide services on such date will be reviewed. In the event of a cancellation, your session fee will be honored for one year.

Please send me an email and let me know you are ready to book your session. I'll then send over a link to pay the non-refundable session fee online and a link to sign the portrait agreement.

After you've taken care of those two items we'll set up your complimentary maternity session. All sessions take place on weekdays, Monday through Friday.
